Troop and Personal Equipment

Our troop supplies most everything needed for scouts and adults to enjoy our camping adventures.  Troop-owned gear is stored in the Quarter Master (QM) room in the basement of Wesley Hall.

The troop quartermasters will be assisted this year by adult Equipment Manager. Any scouting gear issued to a scout must be returned to the QM room clean, dry, complete and properly packed.  Any gear found to be damaged should be reported to the QM for repair or replacement.  Gear that is taken home after an event for cleaning or airing out should be returned to the QM during the first meeting after the event.  Please help by making sure all gear is returned promptly and in good condition for our next event.  We do have a limited number of sleeping bags and backpacks available for loan. Contact the Scoutmaster for more information.

The Troop 76 Uniform Closet/Uniform Exchange
Scout uniforms are quickly outgrown and Troop 76 scouts/parents are encouraged to donate any outgrown, clean, gently used uniform pieces to the Troop 76 Uniform Closet. Donations are accepted throughout the year. Scout parents are also encouraged to visit the uniform closet for pieces they may need before rushing out to buy new uniform elements.

Troop 76 Class B Uniforms
Class B uniform shirts are available to scouts and adult volunteers for $13. The Class B uniform consists of Class B T-shirts and preferably Class A pants, but any other pant or short is also acceptable. Class B's offer scouts and adult Scouters a casual BSA uniform alternative for BSA activities where the Class A shirt is not the ideal option (e.g. Backpacking, Rock Climbing, and other high adventure program activities). Contact the scoutmaster if you are interested in purchasing a Class B shirt. For sizes, refer to the adult and youth charts. Class B's are not acceptable for scout meetings, Scoutmaster conferences, Board of Reviews or Court of Honor activities. All official BSA business requires a scout to wear a full Class A uniform.

Where to find scouting material and personal camping equipment
Our local council is the source for membership, program, and retail information. Council Offices are in Milford and there is a co-located Scout Store with one of the best inventories in the area. Always a good idea to call them first if you're looking for an unusual item, special size, etc.

Almost everything that you can find at one of the Council Shops can also be gotten online at ScoutStuff.org . When you register to order on-line, identify yourself as being associated with Troop 76 in the Scatacook District of the Connecticut Yankee Council.

  Waterbury Scout Shop (SAT)
  114 Scott Road Suite #3-A
  Waterbury, CT 06705
  Telephone: 203-755-7193

This shop is nicely equipped and the staff is VERY helpful. It's about 35 miles from Ridgefield, right off Interstate 84 just east of Waterbury. Take exit 25 off I-85 East. Follow along access road through a couple of lights past a MacDonald's and turn right at the light onto Scotts Road. About 200 yards up on the left is the entrance into Scotts Plaza where there is a sign for the BSA Scout Shop and a restaurant called Ebenezer's. Good idea to call shop first and make sure they have in stock what you want and confirm their opening hours.

If you work in or around Stamford, these are additional official Scouting retailers.
